DOCK570 USB-C™ Universal Quad 4K (QV4K) Docking Station with 100W Power Delivery Released

Targus has released the DOCK570 USB-C™ Universal Quad 4K (QV4K) Docking Station with 100W Power Delivery. The DOCK570 has all the features of the industry-leading DOCK190 but with twice as many monitor ports.

That’s right, this dock supports up to 100W of Universal Power (Type-C or 90W Barrel) and Universal Docking of up to four 4K UHD monitors, GbE, audio in/out, and five USB SuperSpeed ports (one BC 1.2 and one USB Type-C).

Windows Support
To support four fast-moving high color video 4K renderings, the DocKtor advises very good recent graphics and at least 16 GB of system DRAM, 32 GB preferred, running 1H19 or newer Windows 10 Pro. Users can get away with less memory if not rendering all four display monitors at 4K, or when only one or two are not rendered at 4K, or with more static applications i.e. stock tickers, and other videos with not too much pixel change. Actual performance varies and depends on the platform and other applications running on it.

macOS Support
MacBooks with 16GB or DRAM running the latest releases of Mojave and Catalina also performed well. Actual performance varies and depends on the platform and other applications running on it.

Linux Support
Ubuntu Linux should work similarly but Thee DocKtor has not had a chance to complete validation.

ChromeOS Support
It worked on some Chromebooks but using four 4K renderings requires quite a bit of Internet bandwidth and it wasn’t clear when the issues observed were graphics related or connectivity related. The DOCK570 is currently not recommended for ChromeOS, the DOCK190 is.

Android Support
For the most part, Android does not support multiple extended monitors and so the DOCK190 is recommended instead of the DOCK570.

Targus Utilities Support
Targus WiFi AutoSwitch, Targus MAC Address Clone, and Targus Ghost Device Removal Utilities support the DOCK570. The Targus A/V Configuration Utility is not recommended, and no support is currently planned for TACU.
